Erdem x Nicholas Kirkwood Silk Hiking Boots

I'm not sure anyone would actually use these for hiking, but the concept is a nice take on the toughness of outdoor shoes. Erdem Moralioglu started making silk prints in 2005 and has since found their way to a collaboration with Nicholas Kirkwood in Fall 2010. The "hiking silhouette" features a tye die silk print in a high heel boot. The purple laces tie together the whole look to give it feel of a hiker with a touch of glamour. These boots are now available at Browns. Additional pics below.

Living The High Life

Every season designers come out with shoes more fabulous than seasons prior.  It’s almost a guarantee that the most eye-catching will come with a heel high enough that walking in them should be considered a talent.  So if you’re up for the challenge, London based designer Nicholas Kirkwood has created some worthy footwear.

Not often does a shoe come along with architecture so aesthetically pleasing that it’s bound to leave any onlooker in awe.  Awe… which is quickly followed by intimidation from the 5.5 inch heel supporting these creations.  Not only are these heels over the top in height, but the price is just as steep (from $995 to $2000).

In a world where price is not an issue would an amazing pair of stilettos such as these be worth the pain?
