Back In The Day: Pop Royalty History Edition!

On this day... March 1st:

1968, Elton John's first single 'I've Been Loving You To Long' was released on the Phillips label, it didn't chart.

1980, Blondie were at No.1 on the UK singles chart with 'Atomic' the group's third UK No.1 single from their album 'Eat To The Beat'. 

1989, Madonna started a $5 million, (£2.9m) sponsorship deal with Pepsi Cola. 

1990, Janet Jackson played the first night on her 120-date Rhythm Nation 1814 World tour at the Miami Arena in Florida. As part of the show Jackson's had a live panther on-stage, but after concerns were raised over safety of the crowds and several incidents of the panther urinating on the stage Jackson axed the cat from the show in the summer leg of the tour.

2001, Sean 'Puffy' Combs became the star witness of his own defence in a New York court claiming he didn't have a gun during a shooting in a New York club. The singer claimed he thought he was being shot at. Causing J.Lo to later break up with him... image is everything. ha!

2009, Kelly Clarkson went to No.1 on the UK singles chart with 'My Life Would Suck Without You'. US singer Clarkson won American Idol in 2000 and became the only American Idol contestant to have topped the UK charts.

Lady Gaga | Alejandro Music Video + Giorgio Armani Product Deal

Lady Gaga isn't the only one wearing high-fashion in her newest music video, Alejandro. Her male dancers sport military outfits custom made by Emporio Armani, and while Gaga's 'gun bra' (custom made by David Samuel Menkes) takes center-stage during the dance routines, the boys' all-black military look leaves a lasting impression as well. The house of Armani plans to debut this look in stores next season. So, you can also expect more collaborations from Gaga and Giorgio!

In Case You Missed It: Lady Gaga wore a custom Giorgio Armani silk mesh bodysuit with embroidered Chantilly lace & crystal beading, underneath a silk organza hooded cape during her American Idol performance this week.

Madonna lands on the cover of Interview Magazine this month, with photography by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. Madge is spotted wearing pieces by Versace, L’wren Scott and Givenchy. Karl templer is responsible for styling the star in lace, leather and edgy accessories. Take that, Gaga!

Steve Madden to Produce Shoes for Madonna’s Material Girl Collection

Teenagers across the U.S are gonna' FREAK! Why? Well, not only is Madonna building a new Material Girl juniors’ line- but she's also bringing Steve Madden along for the ride. Madden will be producing the shoes for the new collection which is expected to hit Macy’s stores and macys.com in August.

“Footwear is an easy way for juniors to change their look, and we are going to offer them a wide array of trend-right items that will fit into their style.” says Iconix CEO Neil Cole.
