Tradeshow Season Has Begun

For those of you in the fashion/streetwear industry- you may be familiar with tradeshows and their importance to a company. From the number of sales you make to the new buyers you meet with- these shows are meant to improve your presence in the industry and open up new streams of revenue for each participating brand.

With that said- the tradeshow season usually kicks off right before the start of a new season. Brands will then showcase new collections & begin their circuit around the country. So, we've been busy all week getting the latest info on whats going to be hot for FW10 and meeting with new and established brands at the show.

As far as I can see- there seems to be absolutely no shortage of plaid, everyone is vulcanizing their shoes and surf products are way more popular than I ever knew. Sorry there isn't much detail to my assessment- but it's all true. In the next few days I'll be posting some pics, but in the meantime feel free to check out some of the participating brands below:

Review: adidas originals x Star Wars Collection

I'm a Star Wars geek. Yes, you read correctly. Whether or not you knew that already- I'm pretty open about it. Darth Vader is my absolute favorite- maybe its the whole bad guy turned loving man thing. Anyhow...when I heard that adidas was creating a "Star wars" line- I got pretty excited. Not only have I worked for the brand, but I also LOVE their products.

But, this apparel range is pretty disappointing. Not only did they neglect the ladies- but the graphics seem SOOO obvious. Where is the innovation?

The one standout piece for me is the "Men's Star Wars Superstar Darth Vader Track Top." It has a cape! How cool is that? I'm currently accepting any samples for review- ahem ahem.

Check detailed shots below:

Jeremy Scott x adidas Spring 2010 Preview

I love the pieces Jeremy Scott does for adidas (despite the fact that they NEVER make shoes my size!).  But anyhow...Jeremy Scott is reintroducing the "JS Wings" in a hologram colorway for SS10. If you were  in London, you may have spotted them during Scott's runway show.

ps my dear adi peeps- can you please send a size 7 my way? Thanks!

Jeremy Scott Goes Yabba Dabba Doo / Spring Summer 2010

This week Jeremy Scott presented his Spring 2010 line for London Fashion Week. The theme is pretty clear. The swimsuits are cute, but the fur coats (not pictured) are ..umm...CRAZY?! Check out the new adidas shoes on the male model.  Is this a collection a hit or miss? It almost feels like the set of a kids movie, but the hipsters will love it... or will they? I'm so confused.

NY Fashion Week: Marc by Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 2010

The Marc by Marc Jacobs SS10 show gets its inspiration from the "vintage store mentality." Styles include the famous bunny ear look, forties inspired jackets, neon, jumpsuits and mistmatched belts.  He's also been honing in on the African/tribal inspired trend I've been seeing pop up at numerous shows (DVF, Monique and even Jeremy Scott for adidas).

I want all of it!!! Take a look at some highlights below! I was almost tempted to just post the whole thing... SO MANY GOODIES!

Tech Geeks Gather Round: TUNIT

In March adidas introduced a new technology called adi Dot (clear material in the heel of the soccer cleat pictured above)
adiDot is an improvement on traditional materials (i.e: Leather) because it does two key things:
1. Provides stability, support, and flexibility in the heel area. Soccer players change direction constantly during the course of play and these three attributes are vital in a performance soccer shoe (specifically in the heel and mid-foot area)

2. The above attributes have been achieved (with adiDot) while at the same time reducing weight, making the shoe more durable, and eliminating water uptake.

Not only does it look & feel cool- the material is more tear resistant, flexible, and has no water uptake! The cleat pictured above is from the F50 Tunit line (flashy & customizable) and the colorways are made specifically for the Euro Cup this summer....
