Kim, Khloé, and Kourtney Kardashian need no introduction, by now they've invaded your TV's/magazines/twitter timelines and now your local mall. These ladies are a multimillion-dollar brand; "with an empire that spans books, fragrances, and clothing, the reality-TV siblings have become entrepreneurial sensations." Their latest venture, the Kardashian Kollection has now hit retail at Sears stores nationwide. The girls reveal the details of the collection—which is inspired by their own wardrobes! See excerpts from their interview with Elle Magazine below.
What’s your favorite thing about the Kardashian Kollection?
Kim: We have really classic pieces—skirts, dresses, blazers, tanks—with a great fit and cut. Usually when I buy clothes off the rack, I need to have them adjusted. So for this collection, we made sure each dress had an hourglass shape. We also used stretchy fabrics; the pieces have lots of stretch and hold so that you feel secure.
Kourtney: There are these amazing hunter-green and blush colors that we all like to wear. But I think we love the collection’s leopard print most. Every time fall comes around, I get in the mood to wear it. Khloé was especially obsessed with the pattern—she was determined to find the right one!
Khloé: I don’t know why, but I’ve always been into leopard print. No joke, when I was 14 years old I wanted my entire room to be covered in it. My mom told me I could have sheets, towels, and a few pillows, but I wanted leopard drapes, carpeting, and a comforter, too. I think maybe my obsession had something to do with my grandmother—she told me the best print to buy is leopard because it always stays in style. But she also told me it has to be the right kind of print, which is why I went crazy making sure the pattern for the collection was chic. When you do a cheesy leopard print, it can turn out so wrong.
What was the design process like?
Kourtney: During the initial stages, there were tons of e-mails exchanged between ourselves and our design team. I’d snap pictures of patterns and textures from home magazines and share my inspiration. Or I’d be in someone’s house and see wallpaper that I liked and take a photo to send to the group. All sorts of things inspired us, and we just constantly sent images and thoughts to one another.
How would you describe your sisters’ personal styles?
Kim: Khloé is edgier, and Kourtney likes to go a little old-school and wear vintage, bohemian-chic things. There’s this pair of sequined harem pants in the collection that look great on Kourtney but aren’t as flattering on me. Harem pants are a fashion risk—I’m proud to have them in our line, but they look better on her. I tend to get criticized when I wear them, so I choose not to.
Kourtney: Kim looks good in dresses that go to her knee—she’s a few inches taller than me and has more curves. Khloé is 5’9” without heels and looks great in anything—especially short skirts or long pants that show off her legs. I’m five feet tall—I’m very petite—so for me, if I’m wearing a skirt or dress, it needs to be short or else it makes me look frumpy. I need to wear either something really short or a maxi dress; anything in between just looks weird.
Khloé: My body has always been one to fluctuate, and I’ve had to adapt my style accordingly. When I was younger I always wanted to dress like Kim, but her style doesn’t necessarily fit my body type. Kim’s style is very sexy—she lo
