Christina Aguilera released her fourth studio album, Bionic, on June 8th. I've listened to the full album and I'm happy to say that Not Myself Tonight and Woohoo are NOT the best songs on the album! And that, is great news.
In my opinion the best songs on there are her power ballads (the stuff that sets her apart from her other competitors). Stripped, her second album, is still one of my all-time-favorites & you'll catch small glimpses of it in Bionic. She also reached out to our beloved Sia for some new song writing collabs! Four stand-out songs are All I Need (a ballad about Aguilera's son Max), Lift Me Up, I Am and You Lost Me.
Overall, Aguilera seems to find herself somewhere between incredible vocals and over synthesized beats. Songs the album could live without: Vanity, I Hate Boys (a new-age version of Girls Just Wanna Have Fun), Bobblehead and the excessive usage of the word "b*tch." And if you still want to harp on the albums 'all-over-ness' in song type, that's exactly the point of naming it 'Bionic.' The album was intended to focus on the duality found naturally in women and the aspects that essentially make us layered/ 'Bionic.'
