Return of The Power Bitch

Fall is (sadly) around the corner and your new wardrobe will more than likely fall victim to one of these key themes- 80's "Power Bitch" or understated chic.
I think it was the great Justin Timberlake who once said "What goes around, goes around, goes around comes all the way back around." Well- the same rules apply to fashion. Last year, designers were planning their FW09 looks in the midst of an economic meltdown. With that being said- many designers wanted to look back to a much happier time. A time of fun & escapism- also known as the 80s!

Not only was the cash-ola flowing heavily in the 80s, but it was a tremendous era for fashion. Large Shoulders, Power Suits, Big Hair and an excess of just about everything else! While this doesn't necessarily make it a good era in fashion, many of the seasons biggest trends include lycra leggings, sequined minis, bold prints and heavy embellishments.
Marc Jacobs summed up the appeal by saying “I was thinking about the good old days in New York, when getting dressed up was such a joy."
Although we'd like to think otherwise- the economy is still struggling and life isn't always fun & games... But, at least now we can dress up & play pretend!
