Cynthia Rowley x Roxy

When you think of Roxy what comes to mind? It probably isn't high fashion. Well, WWD reports that Cynthia Rowley has partnered with the LA-based surf brand. The new line is called "Cynthia Rowley for Roxy" and it's slated to launch in March 2010. The 40 piece collection will be exclusive to Barneys New York, Colette (Paris) and Roxy & Cynthia Rowley stores worldwide.

“My whole idea for this collection was to take all of the great functionality found in these surf clothes and bring some fashion into the function,” explained Rowley. “But I also did some of the opposite too — brought some of the function into fashion such as with the neoprene ballet flats, which you certainly wouldn’t wear to surf.” “We love the idea of taking a fashion designer’s aesthetic and applying it to what one needs for a fashionable surf lifestyle,” she said.

Sounds really cool. What a concept. Take a high fashion designer to design some cheap shit.
WHy don't the high fashion designers just design something that is affordable. Good design is good design. It's one thing to charge someone 10k for a camelskin bomber jacket but some of these products they create, are made for nothing. I'm not saying that you should sell everything really cheap, but this whole "such and such" for Target or "mr. IT designer x H&M" needs to stop.
Here is what I say. Target make cool shit. Adidas - Designer your own cool shit. People need to stand on their own merits. I love a collaboration here and there, but it's out of hand now. Next week. I hope to see Marc Jacobs for Goodwill. (Don't like, you would buy that shit!) Heffers!!!
